A Vineyard Celebration of Love

If you are traveling from or through the NYC area, you have several good options for getting here. Delta, American and JetBlue have direct flights from NY and Tradewinds, a private charter service, flies out of the FBO at White Plains airport (https://www.flytradewind.com/scheduled/).

If you would prefer to take a ferry, you have several options:

The Steamship Authority from Woods Hole - https://steamshipauthority.com
(getting a reservation to bring a car over is nearly impossible but you don’t need a reservation to walk on as a passenger)

The Island Queen from Falmouth - https://islandqueen.com

The Patriot Party Boat from Falmouth - https://www.patriotpartyboats.com

The SeaStreak Fast Ferry from New Bedford - https://seastreak.com/ferry-routes-and-schedules/between-new-bedford-marthas-vineyard-ma/

The Falmouth Edgartown Ferry - https://falmouthedgartownferry.com/ferry-service/

If you need hotel recommendations, or if we can do anything to help make your time in MV easier and more enjoyable please reach out and let us know.

We can't wait to celebrate with you.

The Jaff Guide to MV:
The Vineyard is made up of 5 towns that each have their own personality! We highly recommend exploring each town, if possible. People generally think about the island as two different regions — up island and down island, with a couple of towns in each one. This guide is split up into Up Island and Down Island for ease!

Up-Island: West Tisbury, Aquinnah, Chilmark, Menemsha
This is the quieter part of the island — it’s quainter and more “outdoorsy”. Think hiking, fish
town, etc. It’s slower but so beautiful! Take time to walk around, explore little weird shops, etc.

Sight-seeing/activities/beaches
● Download Trails MV app for different hikes around the island.
● Visit the Aquinnah cliffs! So beautiful and easy to walk. You’ll also probably see the
topless beach, haha :)
● Walk around Menemsha and Chilmark
● Walk to the top of the Aquinnah Lighthouse for amazing views!
● Swim in and hang out in Ice House pond — so beautiful and serene on a nice day!
● Menemsha is also where most of Jaws was filmed! You can find most of the spots here.
● Long Point Beach/Wildlife Refuge is our favorite beach on the island — they cap it at a
certain number of people so it’s nice and quiet. If you want to go, go on the earlier side
so they don’t turn you away!
● Go to the artisan’s fair at the Grange Hall or the Chilmark Flea Market -- it’s all Vineyard artists
showcasing and selling their work. It’s so fun and you will very likely walk away with a treasure!

Restaurants/food
● Call ahead to Larsen’s Fish Market and order chowder, lobsters, lobster rolls, steamers,
etc for pick up in time for sunset. Eat on the crates behind Larsen’s or go to the beach
nearby and watch the insane sunset! This is a must in our opinion.
● Go to the Galley for the best soft serve ice cream.
● Visit Alley’s General Store for yummy, quick bites.
● Chilmark Tavern is a more upscale restaurant — good for a date night! BYOB.
● Scottish Bakehouse has THE BEST baked goods!
● Orange Peel Bakery has great baked goods and they also do a pizza night where you
bring your own ingredients and they’ll make your pizza for you and you can try others’
pizzas!

Down-Island: Edgartown, Vineyard Haven, Oak Bluffs
Down island is the busier part of the island. It’s more known for shopping, the “downtown” vibe,
art galleries, etc.

Sight-seeing/activities/beaches
● South Beach — the classic beach. It can get pretty crowded so go on the early side! Be
patient when looking for parking :)
● As you drive down to South Beach, stop at Ernie Booch Jr’s house (it’s the one with the
huuuuge front lawn) and check out the alpacas!
● You can also drive onto Norton Point off of South Beach which is so fun — check to see
if you can get a day pass! Bring drinks, snacks, etc.
● Stroll around Edgartown and Vineyard Haven. There are so many cute shops, art
galleries, etc, and the people watching is great :)
● Take the ferry from Edgartown over to Chappy and explore for a day (the ferry is like… 3
minutes, haha)! Rent bikes if you want and bike around, go to the beach, etc. It’s such a
cute little town to hang out in.
● Sail on the Mad Max boat — we have many fond memories of this!
● Walk around Oak Bluffs — this is a more touristy spot but it’s still fun! Good place to get
souvenirs, etc. Circuit Ave. is the Main Street and it’s really fun to walk on!
● Go see/ride the carousel in Oak Bluffs — it’s the oldest in the US!!
● Sit on the Great Lawn in Oak Bluffs and just take it in. So beautiful!
● Explore the Campgrounds in Oak Bluffs — it’s an old settlement that’s no longer religious
but it’s really amazing and such a special part of the island!
● If you want a more adventurous day, book kayaks through Island Spirit and you can
kayak on Sengy Pond. You can also do paddle boarding!
● Visit Felix Neck Nature Preserve between Edgartown and Vineyard Haven.
● Jump off the bridge between Edgartown and Oak Bluffs on Beach Road — you’ll know it
when you see it! It’s crowded with people jumping off into the water. So fun!

Restaurants/food
● Port Hunter- downtown Edgartown. Live music, fun menu, can get kind of loud at night
when it turns into a bar. Sometimes there’s a long wait so get there on the earlier side!
● Newes from America in Edgartown — classic pub. Burgers, beer, etc. So good!
● Go to Katama General Store in Edgartown on your way to South Beach and get
sandwiches, snacks, etc to bring to the beach. Highly reco their chicken salad!
● Mad Martha’s is the classic ice cream store of the island. They have multiple locations
but I usually go to the one in Edgartown.
● The Quarterdeck down by the water in downtown Edgartown is a tiny shack with
amazing clam chowder, fried clams, etc. a must! My family has a running argument
about the best chowder on the island and this is mine.
● Atria in Edgartown is a great restaurant for burgers, etc.
● The Seafood Shanty in downtown Edgartown is a staple of the town! Sit on the roof
during the day and have lunch and a drink, enjoy the view, etc. Dinner/night time is a
little crazier because it turns into a wild bar, so I recommend lunch.
● Katama Kitchen in the airfield in Edgartown is such a cutie breakfast diner! Get the
pancakes and check out the bi-planes! :)
● Among the Flowers in downtown Edgartown is another cute place for breakfast/lunch.
● Murdick’s Fudge has great fudge and peanut brittle! Awesome gift/souvenir.
● Behind the Bookstore in downtown Edgartown is such a cute little place for drinks,
coffee, lunch, dinner.
● Morning Glory Farm is my favorite farmstand/grocery store, etc. It’s outside of downtown
Edgartown but they have AMAZING produce, cheese, pies, baked goods, flowers. etc.
Call ahead to place an order for a pie!
● Back Door Donuts is a MUST. In Oak Bluffs — they open their back door at 7 pm and
you get donuts hot and fresh from the oven until they run out! Get in line early if you
don’t want to wait but it’s definitely worth any wait there is :) highly recommend the apple
fritter!
● The Lookout in Oak Bluffs is our favorite restaurant on the island — it has the best sushi
but it also has ribs, salads, etc. Such a funny and random menu but the food (and the
margaritas) is incredible!!! Get there early because they fill up quickly and don’t take
reservations.
● Giordano’s in Oak Bluffs is awesome pizza/Italian! They have a takeout window for pizza
and a sit-down section for a full meal.
● Red Cat in Oak Bluffs is so fun — but make a reservation!
● Get a dirty banana or mudslide from Nancy’s in Oak Bluffs — they have non-alcoholic
ones, too :)
● Ben and Bill’s in Oak Bluffs also has great ice cream and there are some really creative
flavors! They also have amazing candy and chocolate.
● Fat Ronnie’s on Circuit Ave. in Oak Bluffs has amaaazing burgers!
● Salvatore’s in Vineyard Haven is great for Italian.
● Little House in Vineyard Haven is a cute place for lunch
